Finding the right Hair and Makeup stylist to collaborate with on your big day is incredibly important. Cecilia Fernandez, owner of Musa Salon in Soquel, CA is one of those stylists! I consider her more of an artist. Her intuition is spot on and translates into you looking amazing. Her Hair and Makeup is always beautiful and just the perfect amount. On your wedding day you’ll spend a lot of time with your stylist so you want it to be someone who has a great demeanor as well as fabulous taste! Cecilia’s calm and professional nature will send you off into your wedding day glowing and looking like your gorgeous self! I asked Cecilia some questions about why she likes styling brides, what services she offers and some advice on how brides can get their skin and hair into wedding shape.
Heidi: What got you into doing weddings?
Cecilia: Styling hair is one of my biggest passions! Early on in my career I realized how hair and makeup play a big role in a bride's wedding day and how important it is to have someone that understands your vision. Not only do I love being part of their special day, I love helping brides to feel and look their most beautiful, before, during and after their wedding.
Heidi: What bridal services do you offer?
Cecilia: Hair and Makeup related services, Special occasion styles, Makeup lessons, Hair extensions, Eyelash extensions, Facials, Bridal Party Hair and Makeup at the salon or on location.
Heidi: You have an Aveda Salon, what got you into the Aveda products?
Cecilia: Once I was able to try them and found out their products are naturally derived from pure flowers and plant essences I fell in love with them. I guess I had always been looking into integrating wellness and beauty into mine and my guests' lives. I love the Aveda mission and that we all believe in treating ourselves, each other and the planet with respect. I also love the fact that giving back to society is part of Avedas' tradition.
Heidi: What hair or make up advice would you offer a bride to make her day go smoother?
Cecilia: Prepare…jump-start your daily beauty routine as soon as you can. Create a hair care plan in advance. Consult with your stylist about hair conditioning treatments. Be sure to have a hair and make up trial. Get longer lashes. Eat healthy, hydrate and work out regularly. To get a smooth face I recommend getting monthly facials at least three months before the wedding. For the wedding day have a “Day of Bag” with extra essentials: hair spray, bobby pins, blotting papers and lipstick. Make sure you have enough time to get ready!
Heidi: Can you tell me more about the facials you offer at your salon?
Cecilia: We have an all-natural ingredients plant peel facial that restores healthy balance to skin immediately; it helps re-texturize the skin, smoothes fine dry lines, refines the look of pores and restores radiance. It’s also safe for acne prone skin. If you purchase a 5-treatment package for $250 the 6th facial is complementary!
Heidi: I’m always impressed with the way you make people look, how do you keep up with ever changing bridal world?
Cecilia: I believe in innovation and that learning never ends. I attend several classes a year to be able to offer the latest trends as well as perfecting my very own favorite classic looks.
Thank you so much Cecilia! If you have more questions or would like a consultation with Cecilia please contact her at www.musasalon.com. I recommend visiting her salon for one of those facials! It’s such a relaxing, peaceful oasis. I’m always happy when I get to stop in!
